I can drink BEER when I'm four!

Oh yes, the title of this post is what Addison said to a library helper Monday! It all started with a conversation where the man asked Addison how old she was. She replied, "three." I then said "she'll be four in April." That's when the big statement came out, "I can drink beer when I'm four!" Oh yes, it was said with much enthusiasm! Of course I'm mortified and thinking, "this guy thinks she's living with a bunch of beer swiging alcoholic parents!!!!" I instantly replied, "Addison, that's not appropriate." Then I say to the library guy, "I bet that's the funniest thing you've heard all day!" He replies, "that sounds like something my grandkids would say." So that helped me feel a bit better about my childs apparent excitement over when she can drink beer (and it's not four!). Then on the way out of the library I explained she has to be 21-old (to help her understand that better I added) "like a mommy or daddy!" Lord help me with this girl, she's gonna drive me into an early grave I do believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Where is the time going? I cannot believe this little beauty is the same baby I gave birth to 3.5 years ago! This is her 3's class preschool photo taken in Oct. Of course the attire isn't quite right with the background-but what's a mom to do on a day when the high is in the 80's???? She's growing up so fast I can hardly keep up!

Cousins

At the grocery store last night Addison stuck her little finger out, pointed at the cashier, and asked "who's that?" (she is still young enough to foolishly believe I know everyone and everything). I said, "ask her her name." She dutifully asked the cashier, "what's your name?". The cashier replied "Natalie." She exclaimed "you're not Natalie!" She misses her cousins Natalie and Nolan. And so does mommy (and her sissy Kathy too). So here are a few pics of cousins when they came to visit us from MN!

My Little Valentine

I had to share a few shots from Valentines "weekend." We had a nice quiet weekend here and enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't work at all this weekend (for the first time in a month) so it was nice. My girl is growing up so fast. We went out to eat Sunday after church and let me tell you she behaved like a little lady in every way. She fed herself and really didn't spill food much. She also drank from a cup with a straw (and a lid-I'm not crazy!) and managed not to dump it everywhere. Afterwards I told her she acted like a little lady so she kept saying "Addison a little lady." It was so cute!

Snow days!

Boy have I been behind on this blog (thanks FB)! I made sure I brought the camera out with me when we headed out for the snow today. It was the first time I've taken Addison out in it since we've both been sick! It was a beautiful day for it with the sun shining! She liked the snow. She mostly ate it. Tried to throw it to Sadie since she loves to jump in the air, catch some and eat it! I got a few shots of Sadie running laps around the yard too.

Trick Treat!

"Trick treat" was Addison's greeting by the end of the treat getting! She had fun running around gathering candy (even eating a little on the way!). We had a lot of fun too. I just loved her in this costume. Thank goodness for warm weather!

Boiler Up!

I just wanted to share some pics from Purdue homecoming tailgaiting this last Saturday. The game was lame as Minnesota beat us but the time with friends was PRICELESS! Can't wait til next year...maybe we can win!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Haircut

Addison is such a big girl! A few or so ago (maybe two!) she got her first haircut. And yes we did the whole cheesy thing where we pay way too much to take her to Cookie Cutters for the "First Haircut" package. She just got a little trim (no bangs-the stylist said it won't work with her curly hair-darn!) and handled it quite well. She was beside herself to get that balloon! Afterwards we went and got some ice cream!

The Playground

Hi everybody! We were heading down to the playground in our neighborhood Monday and I actually remembered to grab the camera. Addison so enjoys playing there and is now brave enought to go down the slide all by herself! Grandma Robbins was with us that afternoon, so that was a treat!

I know Addison misses her Grandma and Grampa Speelman! We got to have them around for a while after Mike's surgery. Mike is recovering well so far, thanks for you prayers. You can see him hanging out in the background. I know he can't wait until he can play more with Addison (you know rough daddy style!) but they still have a good time together.

Don't you just love the one of her going down the slide? Fun stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been very bad about blogging! Things are a little on the crazy side right now. Mike's back is all jacked up again-CRAP! But I meant to share these photos of Addison with her pigtails when I took them like...uh...3 weeks ago! She is so funny and cute all the time (ok, not all the time but most of the time!). I just can't help myself, I just have to bust out the camera or camcorder all the time. She is talking SO much now. Pretty much anything I say to her she repeats (yeah, I know some of you are snickering...) and can say some words that I just don't think most kids her age can say. A few days ago she was playing with her toy fishing pole in the bathtub and caught a fishy and said "I did it!!!!!!!!!!!" It made me cry! She said it with such joy and accomplishment, it made me realize my baby is gone...replaced with such a wonderful, big girl! A happy/sad kind of moment.

Anyway, let me know what you think of the pics. Hope everyone is doing well. Please keep Mike (and the rest of us) in your prayers as we deal with this back stuff some more.

Playtunnel fun!

Here are some pics of Addison in her playtunnel from this evening. She was in the climbing mood (trying to scale the arm of the couch) so we set up this handy-dandy play tunnel (that I picked up at a garage sale for a whopping $7.00) so she could burn off some energy! We have had a nice/relaxing weekend and got to see some friends that we don't get to see a lot too. Life is good!

Zoobilation

Addison, mom, and I had some fun at the Indianapolis Zoo last Wed. I'm just now posting this because as some of you know we had a nasty run of food poisoning that began that evening! We're still not all back to normal but the show must go on! Addison and I fed the giraffes and she loved the dolphin show... well the pre-show...featuring her!!!!!! She danced around and talked to the crowd until the show started. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Speelman Campingpalooza 2008

Man am I delinquent! I haven't posted for weeks! We got back Sat night from the annual Speelman July 4th camping. I am still doing laundry!!!!!!!!! We were there Tues through Sat. We had a great time and as usual the time flew by! Addison just LOVED playing with her cousins all day. Even on the soggy rainy day you would have thought it was a sunny beautiful day by her attitude! I didn't take a lot of pics but will post a few. I got a real cute one of Addison hiding behind the pole at the McDonalds play land we were killing time at as it poured outside! Good times! Hope you enjoy. We miss you all already!

Bike Ride

Today Addison had her first bike ride! Mike went and found a seat and helmet for her yesterday. She looks so darn cute in that helmet and thinks she's big stuff. The pics are with my camera phone! Not the best! Anyway she loved the ride, we had a great time! She sat there and made a "brmmmm" sound with her lips the whole time! She's such a big girl!

Italian Fest

Yummmmmo! We had a lovely time at the Italian Fest Sat night. The manicotti rocked as well as the meatball sub. Second course fried ravioli and vegetable lasagna. Then there's the dolce...yummy chocolate cake! We got smart this year and brought our own vino, beer, h2o and sippies for the little one. We totally stuffed ourselves in Italian fest fashion! Addison met some friends there too. She played with one little girl named Ava who was born a week or so after her and plopped herself onto various other strangers blankets to say "hi, whatcha got to eat here?" She's so funny, sometimes shy and sometimes doesn't know a stranger. Enjoy the pics...Mike just had to walk me through taking them off my phone and putting them onto the computer, I'm so technologically challenged!

I am watching "The Bucket List" that my brother-in-law burned for us....good stuff...the feel good movie of the year!
I'm also checking my 48 e-mails from not checking it all weekend...Yowsa!
Mike (my hot, sexy hubby) and I met with the neurosurgeon and he does not recommend surgery for his disc-yay!!!!!!!!!!! The best news, thanks for all the prayers everyone!
Mom is here helping me with Addison so I could go with Mike so I took advantage of a free babysitter and took Sadie to the vet too. Poor little doggie got poked and proded in all sorts of places and now they tell me they really need to clean her teeth! I really can't believe they clean dogs teeth now but the vet sure sounded convincing. And her breathe does smell of ass and dog biscuits!
Anyway...I'm tired and I'm gonna chill now!
